Jim Beam JB0217 10.5" Pre Seasoned Cast Iron Square Skillet for Grill

I keep reaching for this skillet when I want bacon and eggs to come out the way they should. It has turned into the pan I trust most on a normal morning, which is probably the best thing I can say about a cast iron piece like this. It does the job without making me think too hard about it.
This is for the person who likes great cooking and wants a pan that can actually keep up with that. If you enjoy the heavier feel of cast iron and you want something that holds heat well and gives food a better finish, this fits that kind of kitchen. I like that it works on the grill, in the oven, on gas, and on my smooth top stove too, because that makes it more useful than a pan that only really belongs in one place.
The first time I used it on the smooth top, I was worried it might scratch or cause trouble. That was the one thing I did not love going in. It turned out fine, though, and that eased my mind pretty quickly. I still move it with a little care, because it is cast iron and it has some weight to it, but the fear I had about the stove was worse than the reality.
What I like most is how even it feels once it gets hot. Bacon cooks with good color, eggs set the way you want them to, and the square shape gives you a little more room than a round pan of the same size. That sounds minor until you are trying to cook breakfast without crowding everything together. I use it enough that it has become part of the usual rhythm in my kitchen, not some special-occasion pan that sits around looking nice.
There is a little bit of learning curve with cast iron if you are not used to it. You have to know how you want to heat it, and you have to pay attention when you clean it and put it away. It is not hard, but it is not the kind of pan you can ignore either. That is true of most good cast iron, so I do not see it as a flaw so much as the tradeoff for getting better cooking from it.
I also like that it feels like a real tool instead of a thin pan that loses heat the second you add food. Once it is hot, it stays with you. That matters when I am making breakfast before the day gets going and I want the eggs and bacon to come out right the first time. It gives me that steady kind of control I want from cookware.
If you are the sort of person who likes cooking that feels solid and simple, this skillet makes sense. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a dependable cast iron pan for everyday meals, especially if bacon and eggs are something you make a lot. It has earned its place in my kitchen, and it is the pan I keep coming back to when I want breakfast done right.
